“Art thou not aware that it is God whose limitless glory all [creatures] that are in the heavens and on earth extol, even the birds as they spread out their wings? Each [of them] knows indeed how to pray unto Him and to glorify Him; and God has full knowledge of all that they do”

~ Qur’ an 24:41

Foundations of Islamic Ecology Workshop

Below is an outline of key areas covered in our powerful Foundations of Islam and Ecology workshop:

  • Nature in Islam: Understand humankind's place in creation

  • An Islamic framework: Appreciate and deeply understanding core Islamic concepts including: tawhid, fasad, fitrah, mizan & khalifah, using the Qur’ an

  • Ecological justice in our times: Explore the challenges we face, join the dots, discover what it means in terms of personal and collective responsibility

  • Beyond the course: Engage practically with an ecological consciousness: Get to reflect on your place of power to your context and your self, so our learnings can be practically applied beyond the training

The workshop comprises both talks and interactive exercises to help integrate learnings. There are breaks during the sessions.

This training can take place over:

  • One day in-person, or

  • Two days of three hours each day (via video call).

  • Retreat-based training is also an option. Please feel free to enquire.

We can also combine the training with exploring aspects of the natural world, or with an outdoor immersive activity, in order to explore the teachings more experientially.

What Participants and Organisations Say

"The session was really beneficial mashallah, it was a beautiful space for our group to reflect on the different ayahs of the Quran in relation to nature. We all agreed that we left the session reflecting in ways that we had never done before and found ourselves still thinking deeply some days after. WiN gently led us through the weekend which felt balanced, and left us all feeling even more in love with Allah and the beauty of nature."

Green Deen Tribe, UK

"The exercise reading from the Qur' an will stay with me always - thank you for holding this rich learning space.”
