Floods in Pakistan; Cost of Living Crises and Strike action in UK

We have been deeply affected by recent wider happenings - the devastating floods in Pakistan that have displaced millions, and the cost of living crisis.

Indicators of the Creeking Dominant System

We see these happenings as sharp indicators of what our recent online forums have articulated: that the dominant systems and structures we are intimately woven into are a destabilising and destructive force; and also that they are creeking and will not remain... hence why we need to co-create alternatives to the fasaadic structures and unsustainable systems that dominate....

The Injustice of Wealth concentration

The further concentration of financial wealth into the hands of the already very rich, coupled with real term wage cuts for most of the rest of us is an aspect of this current system. This injustice is being articulated with effect by a number of trade unions in the UK - particularly for instance the Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) - via their down-to-earth, bold handling of often patronising interviews within the mainstream media, as well as through more grassroot means.

While WiN hasn't yet had the capacity to go though a process to reach a formal position or make a formal statement, we do wish to communicate through our channels, that as individual members we empathise strongly with the decision for strike action that such unions have taken to highlight this injustice - and attempt to somewhat catalyse its rectification following a process of consultation with their own members.

For those interested, you may like to check out the Enough is Enough campaign, "founded by trade unions and community organisations determined to push back against the misery forced on millions by rising bills, low wages, food poverty, shoddy housing – and a society run only for a wealthy elite".

There is a national day of action organised for Saturday October 1st 2022

Experimentation, Explorations and Co-Creating: A Road Less Travelled

At WiN we are particularly committed to exploring, experimenting with and co-creating (in the first instance in our own set up) new systems, structures and forms of governance that are regenerative, while also adaptable to the impacts of the ecological crises we are facing.

Being on this road less travelled that challenges norms can also feel uncomfortable as we let go of the familiar: we find ourselves tripping over ourselves and learning often, experiencing a warm relief when things work out better than expected sometimes, and continuing with what is working well enough for now within a spirit of aliveness some other times, to name a few 'generalised' scenarios we encounter along the way.
